Unibap is at the very forefront of cloud-based automation solutions and artificial intelligence for the space industry and our products are in space since 2016.

With our radiation resistant SpaceCloud™ Services (USS), we have created a flexible yet powerful infrastructure for artificial intelligence in space. Our software and hardware offer world-leading cloud services, intelligent data processing, sensor management, and storage of data analyses for adapted distribution of relevant information.

Regardless of whether a customer owns, operates or leases workspace in space, we offer a flexible infrastructure for mesh networks, artificial intelligence, application development and frameworks for space adapted IoT systems.

SpaceCloud™ software can be run on our solutions and selected products. It can be integrated into the space vehicles through the our computer solutions.

To develop Apps for SpaceCloud™, our SpaceCloud™ SDK development environment is needed, which contains software for enhanced radiation tolerance according to the Unibaps SafetyChip and SafetyBoot functionality. SafetyChip and SafetyBoot are supported in Unibap’s computer hardware.

Expanding its offerings together with the Swedish Space Corporation (SSC). SSC offers global satellite communications services to private companies and agencies. Through the collaboration, SpaceCloud customers can receive a seamless cloud service distributed optimally according to current needs in space, on Earth or in combinations where space and ground infrastructure interact. Unibap and SSC see great business opportunities when the boundaries between ground-based services and space services are opened up. The collaboration also leads to a strengthened Swedish and European strategic position within IoT and data-driven business models with Esrange in Kiruna a major communications hub in SpaceCloud™.

Unibap offers space computer solutions for large and small spacecraft. A computer solution contains everything needed in terms of power generation, calculation, data storage, communication interface, etc. Therefore, a computer solution is not comparable to an individual computer card. Our computer solutions are state-of-the-art radiation tolerant intelligent payload processing solutions for applications in space utilizing AMD SoC GPU and CPU in combination with a SmartFusion2 FPGA to provide a powerful computing solution.

SpaceCloud® was launched on June 30, 2021, on the D-Orbit’s Wild Ride ION mission with a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral.
This is the first mission to have Unibap’s SpaceCloud® solution on board and is thus the first in the world with key functions for data management in space. The mission has now verified all 23 pre-installed innovative applications that have been developed to demonstrate the commercial benefits of faster access to qualitative information from space. The apps are designed to show how information can be created from global data and provide a quick snapshot of i.e disaster monitoring and provide lower costs for satellite communications and data transmission to Earth. This demonstrates the first cloud node in a spacecraft that is securely connected to cloud services on Earth.
