Use oxygen that is collected and processed from low earth orbit (LEO) as a propellant in space.
The development department of Stellar Space Industries designs an accumulator, which collects oxygen in Very Low Earth Orbit. Delivering oxygen from Very Low Earth Orbit will cause massive cost reductions for space operations. We at Stellar Space Industries believe that this will not only makes launching cheaper, but will also prolong the use of operational technology.
Project Update: CleanCube Successfully Completed! 2025-07-15.
We’re excited to share that our collaboration with ESA Clean Space and EnduroSat on the CleanCube Pre-phase A study has been completed successfully! CleanCube explored a modular, plug-and-play Atmosphere Breathing Electric Propulsion (ABEP) system tailored for CubeSats operating in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO). The study confirmed the potential of ABEP to significantly extend mission lifetimes, boost performance in VLEO, and ensure compliance with de-orbiting and debris mitigation regulations
Status Comment
Project page was under construction as of early 2023. Status is "Concept" because the company seems to have pivoted to manufacturing. Were involved in an air-breathing propulsion study, which finished in 2025.
