The Xcraft will carry multiple sensors for Earth observation, space domain awareness and astronomy, Rich said. The payloads will offer hyperspectral imaging data, high-resolution video and ultraviolet data products, she added. “Advanced data products will be offered by fusing data generated by our diverse sets of imagers.” Xplore said its hyperspectral imagery will be offered at 2-meter and 5-meter resolution. The company’s long-term plan is to build a constellation of 12 Xcraft platforms carrying eight primary instruments.

The Xplore LightCraft™ is in development to become the fastest spacecraft in human history, able to travel from Earth to Jupiter within a year. By simply harnessing the subtle pressure exerted by sunlight, the LightCraft’s limitless propulsion enables new missions from low Earth orbit through cislunar space while providing rapid access to destinations across the solar system.

Seattle-based Xplore says it’s joining forces with Houston-based Nanoracks to create low-cost rideshare opportunities for payloads heading for the moon, Mars and other destinations beyond Earth orbit. Nanoracks will provide customer-facing services for payload design, preparation and integration on Xplore’s missions — potentially starting with Moon Xpeditions, a lunar mission that Xplore is targeting for launch in late 2021.

Xplore To Host Space For Humanity Payload On Its First Moon Mission.

Accion Systems plans to supply miniature ion thrusters for Xplore Inc.’s 150-kilogram LEO Xcraft (XLEO) satellite. With XLEO, Xplore is offering Space as a Service. With XLEO, Xplore is offering hosting services for various payloads. The XLEO satellite equipped with Accion thrusters also is expected to carry commercial Earth-observation instruments for operational applications.

In a recap of its first five years of existence, Redmond, Wash.-based Xplore reports that it’s received $16.2 million in venture funding and contracts to support its satellite-based drive to offer “Space as a Service.”
